I love this! Great piece. Drives me nuts, I’ve been travelling by myself since the mid 90s and I’ve never once thought I was brave. Just revelling in being in my own company and free to decide where and what… Are you following a set route? I’d love to know what it is, if so. Thanks 🙏🏻

Hi Catie, it was a quite popular part of the route but because it was early in the season, it was so, so quiet! If you have more time, you can start further west, in Passau but of course maybe no further east at the moment :(

Love this so much! Completely relate and I cannot understand it either! In my opinion it’s partly laziness, not in the physical act but in preparation. I am surprised what people try to do when they are not prepared for it. It’s like people do not take any responsibility for their own life anymore. Sorry a bit negative 🤣 loved the article

I am not sure they are saying brave as in the context of fighting a dragon, but rather brave enough to say yes to something outside the box… many would never consider making the trip you are doing. But I see the brave title as a compliment!

I love this - I totally agree! Why waste time being afraid when you could be exploring.

When I did LEJOG earlier this year by myself I had other ladies along the way say to me 'wow you are brave doing this alone'. At no point did I feel brave, I just wasn't remotely scared (I mean, it's the UK in spring time!). I appreciated the sentiment and granted I have lots of experiences behind me that have killed off any fear but I think we need to normalise this activity so that more girls get out exploring and push themselves further out of their comfort zones.

Thanks for a relatable read! x
